Q: I am very out of shape. I find it hard to walk up stairs or long distances. I have been exercising now for about 5 weeks. It still hurts a lot when I exercise. How long before I will begin to feel better?
A:
It is really hard for me to analyze what kind of shape you are in without seeing you and evaluating you. What I can say is keep up the good work! You WILL GET THERE!!!! Some suggestions: be sure your form is correct when exercising. If you are not sure, ask one of the trainers at the gym or follow the instructions on the equipment you are using. Also, try slowing down the pace a bit until you get stronger and then you can push again.
Q: When should I eat carbohydrates during the day if I am looking to lose weight? Click here to view Natalie's answer.
A: For someone looking to lose weight I recommend eating low glycemic carbs for breakfast and lunch only. I don’t recommend eating carbs [fruit, bread, pasta] after 3 PM. So what are some of the low glycemic carbs? Try oatmeal, sweet potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat pasta and whole grain bread. Be sure to watch the serving size and factor in the calories per serving as well.
Q: What is the best way to get rid of the lower belly? What are the good foods to eat when trying lose the belly fat? Click here to view Natalie's answer. A: To tighten up the lower belly I recommend doing full sit-ups, hanging abs, planks and side planks. These moves will sculpt the abs. As well, add a lot of cardio to your routine to help burn the fat covering the muscle. As for diet, I always say that a well-balanced plan with low sugar, low dairy, fiber and lean protein should help you get there. Be sure to watch the calories and serving size.

The contestants on the Biggest Loser wear the bodybugg, a personal calorie management system. The website is www.bodybugg.com. In regard to your question, the amount of calories you burn each day depends on several factors: age, fitness level and how active you are. Once you get the bodybugg and input your information, it will tell you how many calories you are consuming and burning.
